Fishing for Alphabets

Materials Needed:

• 1 medium pointer stick from “Michael’s art and craft store”
• 1 Roll strong and thick string
• 1 Pack magnet
• 1 Pack foam paper
• 1 Pack wodden alphabets
• Glue gun

Directions:

Glue letters onto foam paper and cut them out into any shape you want. Add magnets on the back of each with a glue gun. Then cut your pointer stick in half and glue a piece of string onto the pole with your glue gun. Please use a lot of glue to assure that the string do not fall off. Then glue your magnet to the other end of the other end of the string.
Children will learn letter recognition and small motor development. This activity could be used at your sensory table. Every time the child catches a letter you can ask the children about the letter that was caught.
