Flamingo Diorama

Materials Needed:

• 1 Medium white box (foundation of diorama)
• 1 Medium bottle of pink paint (to paint outside of box)
• 2 Sheet of pink felt (this will be used to make the flamingo’s body/covering of legs)
• 1 Sheet of yellow felt (making of sun)
• 1/2 Sheet black felt (to make eyes/beak)
• Couple of pieces of stuffing (to stuff sun/clouds/flamingo for 3-D effect)
• 1 Toilet paper roll (to make palm tree trunk)
• 1 Sheet of brown tissue paper (to wrap palm tree trunk)
• Masking tape (to tape box together/tape up clouds/sun)
• 1 Roll of fishing line (to hang sun and cloud)
• 4 Small bags of clear blue crystals (to make pond)
• 1/2 Sheet of green poster board (to make leafs for palm tree)
• 1 Small Ziploc bag of dirt (to make mud pile)
• 1 Small bag of tan rocks (to make border around mud pile)
• 1 Small bottle of Elmer’s glue (to mix with mud so that the dirt will harden)
• 1 Bag of Easter Grass (to make grass on bottom of box)
• 1 Small bag of foam flowers (to glue on top of easter grass)
• 2 Chopsticks (to make the legs of flamingo)
• 1 Blue crayon (to color the inside walls of box)
• 1 Glue gun

Directions:

The first thing you will need to do is paint the outside of the box pink and let it dry for at least a day. Second begin to make all of your props such as your sun, cloud, tree, and flamingo. After the box is dry, color or paint the inside of the box blue. Then mix together your dirt and glue and make it into a heap at the back of the box. Take your rocks and make a circular design around the dirt gluing them down with your glue gun. Then create your pond using your blue crystals. Glue your palm tree in place in a desired spot. Place your flamingo in place as well. Then get your grass and glue them down on the rest of the open area on the floor of the box. Glue a few foam flowers on top of the grass. Hang your sun and cloud from the top of the box.
