The Question Collector
How to Use the Activity
Place a special container in the classroom and designate it as the “Question Collector.”
Throughout the week, invite children to add questions about things they genuinely wonder about. Younger children can dictate their questions to an adult.
Questions might begin with:
• Why does...?
• How does...?
• What would happen if...?
• I wonder why...?
• I wonder how...?
Periodically select a question and invite the class to investigate it together.
Why This Matters
Children's questions provide insight into what interests and puzzles them. Creating a place specifically for their questions communicates that curiosity has value. It also supports inquiry, language development, critical thinking, and children's ownership of learning.
Closing Reflection
“A good question can be the beginning of something new to discover.”
